diorama workshop in collaboration with radioriotgrrl

On March 30th 2024, we carried out our first workshop hosted at radioriotgrrls' (Mengju and Nat) studio space.

Planned over the course of a month, this workshop aimed to exercise a large aspect of our collective's vision- the creation of inclusive and welcoming spaces for queer individuals to engage in artistic expression and exploration.

The diorama workshop served as a platform for fostering connections within our community while providing a safe and supportive environment for individuals of all skill levels to express creatively.

Drawing inspiration from the vibrant energy of past radioriotgrrls gatherings, we sought to infuse our workshop with the same experimental and inclusive spirit. With help from Mengju and Natto, we gathered art materials from our homes and friends, as well as recycled containers as a vessel for their dioramas. So our participants have the resources to materialize their vision.

During the workshop, we provided a brief history of dioramas and showcased some examples for inspiration. Participants then selected a plastic container to begin their creations, and the crafting process began!

Lots of love and gratitude to our participants and supporters for their patience as we learn and grow as workshop organizers. We've taken notes after this experience and are looking to improving our workflow for a better experience next time <3

Look out for more creative workshops to come!

tofuhouse SHRUB takeover

From 24 - 26 November 2022, tofuhouse took over the SHRUB space while the shrubkeeper went to Bangkok art book fair. Tofuhouse took this time and space to showcase their new zines and prints. Did some live drawings and held space for conversations about their film alongside a showcase of a work in progress of the film.

We made this super cool 3D animation to promote our event concurrent events which was posted on SHRUB's instagram (@shrub.0128).

Shrub is a store specialising in independent artist products.
Located in a gritty former locksmith store at Goldenmile Tower, Shrub presents a melting pot of curated zines, prints, tees, and various odds and ends.
Concurrently, the space is used as a base for people to come together, create, explore, discuss, and collaborate. Here, there are no stringent academic or experiential expectations. In true D.I.Y spirit, the people at Shrub believe that being self-taught and learning from our peers is an invaluable and sacred gift.
